The two-time world champion asserts that Taylor would intentionally try to unsettle his opponents during matches, even going as far as breaking wind on the oche as part of his psychological tactics.

He mentions that these dirty tricks were persistent from his formidable rival and often unfolded in front of packed arenas and television audiences.

He told talkSPORT : “He would stand there and fart on the oche, doing all sorts.

“Oh God, he is terrible for it! For example, your darts case would mysteriously go missing.

“It’s like, ‘Hold on a minute.’ He would do so many things.”

The Stoke-on-Trent player acknowledges that he never had the temperament to overlook the gamesmanship and preferred to address issues directly during matches.

He added: “I tend to react when I shouldn’t.

“I don’t believe I’ve always maintained the stable mindset that I should have.

“But sometimes I manage to laugh it off.

“I’m one of those individuals where some of the PDC guys say, ‘Why didn’t you wait until after to tell them?’

“Listen, there’s no point in telling someone later if they’re doing something wrong.

“I’m going to address it right then and there while they’re present.

“It doesn’t matter if there are millions watching.

“There’s no point in waiting until I get backstage.

“We might as well confront it and say, ‘Listen, I don’t appreciate that. Please stop.’”
