What is Gary Brecka’s diet plan?
The Gary Brecka’s diet plan consists of a low-carb high-fat eating plan which aims to shift the body into a state of ketosis for weight loss, .
This state of metabolism occurs when your body predominantly uses fat as its source of fuel rather than carbohydrates.
The macronutrient ratio for this diet is 70-75% fat, 20-25% protein and 5-10% carbohydrates.
While most people follow this diet for weight loss there are many other underlying benefits.
This diet leads to increased energy levels, enhanced focus, and better blood-sugar control among others.
Biohacking warnings from experts
Professor Tim Spector, the co-founder of gut health company Zoe and author of Spoon Fed has highlighted his concerns about biohacking.
“Biohacking can often be another way of propagating wellness fads that don’t have scientific evidence,” he told The Independent.
“Respecting and understanding our biology and how to maintain our health, rooted in a robust understanding of human physiology and the scientific evidence, is the way I recommend focusing on improving our wellbeing.
“The idea that you can ‘hack’ your biology is another way of searching for silver bullets.
“It’s not something that I think is necessary for most people. Our bodies are clever and have evolved to help us to stay healthy.
“All we have to do is look after ourselves and eat foods to support our biology.”
Meanwhile, Dr Mohammed Enayat, a specialist in preventative and functional medicine has warned that Johnson’s methods may not be safe or realistic for everyone.
Like Spector, he too emphasized the importance of adopting a balanced approach when it comes to health
