The Commissioner of the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission, Suleiman Yahaya Vokna, has stepped down from his position.

In a statement he personally signed and provided to the media, Vokna stated that he resigned to pursue personal interests that are more significant to him.

“I, Suleiman Yahaya Vokna, hereby officially announce my resignation from the role of Commissioner with the Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC), effective 17th October 2025.

“This decision was not taken lightly. It arises from personal reasons and the desire to explore other interests. After careful consideration, I believe that stepping aside at this time is in the best interest of both myself and the Commission.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, for the trust and confidence placed in me through my appointment. It has been a great honor and privilege to serve and contribute to the enhancement of democratic governance in our beloved state,” the statement noted.

According to him, “throughout my time in office, I have remained committed to the core values of integrity, impartiality, and transparency, which are fundamental to the credibility of any electoral institution.

“I take great pride in the collective accomplishments of the Commission and extend my heartfelt thanks to my colleagues for their unwavering support, professionalism, and teamwork.

“As I make this transition, I wish the Governor, the entire government of Adamawa State, and the leadership and staff of ADSIEC continued success in fulfilling their essential responsibilities.

“Thank you once again for the opportunity to serve.”
