Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his administration's dedication to ensuring a smooth and conflict-free transfer of power at the conclusion of his tenure in 2027.

The governor provided this assurance on Thursday while speaking to worshippers during the Christmas service at St James' Anglican Church in Iperu-Remo, located in the Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.

Abiodun stated that his government is committed to establishing a new precedent in the political history of the state by peacefully handing over to a successor, without any disputes or tensions.

He expressed his intention for his administration to conclude its tenure on a positive note and oversee what he termed a significant transition in Ogun State.

“As we approach 2027, we will finish well and finish strong, and by God’s grace, successfully hand over to a successor,” he said.

“This will mark the first peaceful transition in Ogun's 50-year history. I will attend both my send-off and the swearing-in of my successor,” he added.

The governor attributed his confidence to what he described as the steady growth of the state's economy and the people-centered policies enacted by his administration.

He highlighted that Ogun State's economy has grown significantly since he took office, primarily due to increased industrial activities and investment inflows.

“Our economy has expanded nearly fivefold from what we inherited. New factories and industries are emerging throughout the state,” Abiodun remarked.

The governor also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he referred to as focused leadership under the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that the federal government's policies are already producing positive outcomes.

Reflecting on the importance of the Christmas season, Abiodun emphasized that the celebration extends beyond mere festivities, urging residents to embrace love, peace, and compassion, especially towards the less fortunate.

“Christmas is about loving your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater gift than God giving us Jesus,” he stated.

He further encouraged residents to celebrate responsibly, advising against excessive alcohol consumption and promoting moderation.
