Aloy Ejimakor, the lead counsel for the convicted leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has requested that his client be transferred out of northern Nigeria due to security concerns.

Ejimakor made this request on Friday via his X account following reports of a United States military strike on terrorist targets in Sokoto State.

He stated that this incident confirmed that Sokoto is significantly affected by terrorist activities and has never been a secure location for Kanu's detention.

He argued that the presence of terrorists in the region poses a serious threat to Kanu’s safety and urged the authorities to move him to a facility outside what he referred to as the “terrorist belt” in northern Nigeria.

Ejimakor emphasized that the urgency of relocating Kanu has increased in light of the recent security developments in the area.

He remarked: “The US military strike against terrorists in Sokoto has definitively shown that Sokoto is infested with terrorists, making it an unsafe place for MAZI NNAMDI KANU's custody. It is now imperative that he be moved outside the terrorist belt in Northern Nigeria.”
