Abia govt not meddling in EFCC’s activities – Otti’s aide

Published on May 21, 2025 at 06:03 AM

Abia State government has disowned a trending report on social media where the State’s government was alleged to have stopped the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, from taking 59 arrested Abia youths to Abuja.

The State government in reaction through Ferdinand Ekeoma, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, on Tuesday, accused the members of the opposition of being behind the news.

He said that Abia State government does not meddle in the activities of legitimate government agencies like the EFCC and other sister anti-graft agencies, let alone doing so in defence of suspected fraudsters.

According to the Governor’s aide, the news and similar reports in recent times, were motivated by the members of the opposition to paint the State in bad light.

He appealed to the public to disregard the news and to treat it as fake.
