legend is expected to be presented in Mexico City on July 6 when his new team face Spanish second division side Leganes in a friendly.

The Mexican season starts a week later but Ramsey and co face Inter Miami superstar duo Messi and Luis Suarez in a Leagues Cup group stage tie on August 7.

Josefa Gonzalez Blanco, the Mexican ambassador for the United Kingdom, met Ramsey on Monday.

He posted on X: “Thrilled to welcome @aaronramsey to the embassy today.

“He’s now heading to Mexico City to officially join @PumasMX @UNAM_MX ahead of the opening 2025 season.”;

Ramsey, who has won 86 Welsh caps, is desperate to lead the Dragons at next year’s World Cup finals.

And the move to Mexico – one of the three World Cup hosts with USA and Canada the others next summer – is a sign of his commitment to try and show Bellamy he is good enough to play on the highest stage should Wales qualify.

The ex-Arsenal and Juventus star, who is recovering from a hamstring injury, publicly confirmed his Cardiff exit on Sunday.

Ramsey, who was offered the Bluebirds job but turned it down before Brian Barry-Murphy was appointed, said: “I leave Cardiff City with a lot of different emotions.

“Although it has been personally challenging at times, I made sure to give my all on and off the pitch for this wonderful club that is so close to my heart.

“For now I am on a new adventure but I will be keeping a close eye on the club as always and it will forever have my support.

“Good luck to the staff and all the players for the upcoming season and a big thank you to the amazing fans! Until next time, Aaron.”;
