A devastating fire outbreak has ravaged Mirwa ward in Nguru Local Government Area of Yobe State, leaving a trail of destruction and despair in its wake.

The inferno, which is believed to have been sparked by an unknown source, razed down 51 houses, killed 85 livestock, and affected approximately 301 persons.

According to reports the fire outbreak has rendered many families homeless, with some losing their entire livelihoods with victims in dire need of assistance, including shelter, food, and clothing.

The tragic incident comes on the heels of a warning issued by the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, YOSEMA, against the use of open fires, following a surge in fire outbreaks across the state.

The agency had cautioned residents to exercise extreme caution when handling fire, citing the dry season as a high-risk period for fires.
