Activist lawyer, Maxwell Opara, on Tuesday challenged former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, to drop his ego and form an alliance with a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Peter Obi, ahead of 2027.
Opara urged Kwankwaso to deputize Obi for the 2027 presidential race in a bid to defeat President Bola Tinubu.
In an interview with Arise News, the activist lawyer insisted that the former Labour Party presidential candidate has shown the capacity to rule Nigeria.
According to Opara: “Obi has shown capacity. Coming from nowhere, he was able to enter the Labour Party and deliver such results in the general election, so he has the capacity.
“It’s time for them to drop their egos and work with Obi, especially Kwankwaso. He should deputize Obi because that’s the only option.
“Because if somebody from the North feels they can come and challenge somebody from the South who has not completed their eight years, it will not work. But if the opposition decides to go for somebody from the North, Obi stands a better chance since he has the capacity.
“It will make these people sit up, since the issue of somebody telling Nigerians that they are preparing for inauguration, not even an election, is an insult to all of us.
“You can’t tell us that it’s a walkover when you have 32 governors who are governors.”
