A gubernatorial candidate from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has requested the support of local councillors in his bid to succeed Governor Seyi Makinde in 2027.
Oguntoyinbo made this appeal during a meeting with councillors representing the 33 local government areas in the state.
According to DAILY POST, the meeting took place at Iseyin City Hall on Tuesday.
While addressing the attendees, Oguntoyinbo expressed that his ambition to lead the state is fueled by a dedication to uphold and advance the governance reforms initiated by Makinde.
He emphasized that he envisions enhancing grassroots involvement in the decision-making process.
Oguntoyinbo stated, “I am here because you are the leaders closest to the people. Governor Seyi Makinde has made remarkable progress, and Oyo State cannot afford to entrust this advancement to the wrong hands.”
“We are gathered here today because we are genuine members of the PDP.”
The Leader of the House from Egbeda Local Government, Olasunkanmi Olusola, remarked that Oguntoyinbo is the first aspirant to formally acknowledge the significance of councillors within the state’s political framework.
Olusola noted, “This is the first governorship aspirant to recognize us as key stakeholders.”
