The majority of Ogun State Assembly members have thrown their weight behind Nigerian Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, representing the state’s West Senatorial District, for the 2027 gubernatorial election under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers, representing 20 out of 26 members of the State House of Assembly, made this decision on Wednesday.
Speaking on behalf of the lawmakers at the Iwe-Iroyin Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, the Majority Leader of the Assembly, Yusuf Sheriff Abiodun, cited Adeola’s experience and contribution to the state and the nation as reasons for their support.
“I am also using this opportunity to declare our unalloyed support for the gubernatorial bid of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola,” he stated.
Earlier, the state lawmakers had endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027.
They had joined several governors and political heavyweights who have backed Tinubu’s re-election bid.
