The national leader of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, has outlined his conditions for joining any coalition or forming an alliance with other political parties.
Kwankwaso stated that while they are seeking a party to merge with in preparation for the 2027 general election, that party must be willing to relinquish its presidential or vice-presidential ticket to him.
There are rumors suggesting that the former Minister of Defence is currently under pressure to affiliate with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The ADC already includes notable figures such as former Vice President Alhaji Aliko Dangote, former presidential candidate Peter Obi, and former Minister of Transportation Chibuike Amaechi, all of whom have expressed interest in running for the presidency.
Additionally, it is reported that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is attempting to persuade Kwankwaso to join their ranks and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election in 2027.
However, while addressing his supporters on Saturday, Kwankwaso emphasized that he would only align with a party that is prepared to offer him the presidential or vice-presidential ticket.
“We are searching for a party, but they must agree to grant me, Rabiu Kwankwaso, a presidential or vice-presidential ticket,” he stated in Kano.
Kwankwaso finished a distant third in the 2023 presidential election, significantly trailing behind President Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi.
