Former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Ude Oko Chukwu, has resigned from his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
His resignation comes a week after he visited Governor Alex Otti, where he endorsed the re-election of the governor for a second term.
Oko Chukwu, in a resignation letter dated August 5, 2025, which he addressed to the PDP Chairman, Ndi Elu Ward in Nkporo, Ohafia LGA, said his decision was a personal but difficult one.
He also appreciated the PDP for the opportunities given to him to serve.
Though the ex-deputy governor did not indicate his next move in the letter, it is speculated that he may join the Nenadi Usman faction of the Labour Party.
It is also highly speculated in Abia that Oko Chukwu will contest the Abia North Senatorial seat against the incumbent, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
