Inter Miami's captain, Lionel Messi, has stated the sole condition under which he would represent Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted in North America.

The 2026 World Cup is set to take place in various cities across Canada, the USA, and Mexico during the summer of 2026, and the Argentine icon is anticipated to participate in the tournament.

However, Messi has made it clear that he will only join the Argentine team if he is fit and in good physical condition, emphasizing that he does not want to be a liability for the squad.

Should he participate, Messi would become one of only two players to have competed in six World Cups, alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
