A prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Eddy Olafeso, has claimed that those who are opposing the party's national convention are attempting to create a one-party state in Nigeria.
Olafeso, who previously served as the National Vice Chairman of the party, made this assertion on Tuesday during an appearance on 'Politics Today', a program on Channels Television that was monitored by DAILY POST.
In response to the Federal High Court's order that halted the PDP's national convention, which was set to take place on November 15 to 16 in Ibadan, Olafeso referred to the ruling as the height of judicial misconduct.
“The restraining order from the Federal High Court against our planned convention did not surprise us,” he stated.
“There is a faction determined to completely dismantle the party, but we will not permit it. Good will triumph over evil,” he added.
He expressed confidence that the party would not be discouraged by the ruling, believing that the convention would still proceed as planned.
The PDP leader also suggested that those opposing the party have hidden agendas aimed at undermining the opposition.
