South Africa coach, Hugo Broos, has mocked the Super Eagles of Nigeria following both sides’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier 1-1 draw on Tuesday.

Broos’ side took the lead following William Troost-Ekong’s own-goal in the 22nd minute.

Calvin Bassey then restored parity for Eric Chelle’s side before half time.

Both teams failed to score in the second half at the Free State Stadium as they shared a point each after the final whistle.

Speaking at his post-match interview after the game, Broos said the Super Eagles tried to win the encounter against Bafana Bafana with “power”, but failed to achieve their aim.

“It was a game like I expected. On my side, the team who wants to play football, on the other side, a team who tried to win the game by power,” Hugo Broos told reporters.

“We did very well in the first half but Nigeria tried physical to come back and they did.”
