Coach of Nigeria's Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, has revealed his pick for the best striker in the world at present.

The Malian coach believes that Super Eagles No. 9, Victor Osimhen, is currently the best in the world.

Chelle expressed his happiness regarding the return of the Galatasaray striker from the injury he sustained while representing his country during the last FIFA International window.

Osimhen is set to participate in the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin.

He sustained his injury during Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Rwanda in Uyo in September.

In a press conference with sports journalists ahead of the match against Lesotho on Friday, Chelle praised Osimhen as the best striker globally.

“For us, Victor is the best striker in the world. However, we have many strikers in this team, and we have several players who can make a difference at any moment,” he stated.

“Sometimes you have certain players available, and sometimes you don’t, but it’s essential to focus on the players who are ready to play now.”

Nigeria's chances of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in North America are quite slim. The Super Eagles must win their remaining two matches to have any chance of qualification.
