2025 U-20 AFCON: Bameyi bullish after Flying Eagles’ opening day victory

Flying Eagles captain Daniel Bameyi has said that the players are looking forward to another win against Morocco at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.

Aliyu Zubairu’s side defeated Tunisia 2-0 in their first game in Cairo on Thursday night.

Midfielder Auwal Ibrahim scored the winning goal in the 38th minute.

The Flying Eagles will take on Morocco in their second Group B game at the June 30 Stadium, Cairo on Sunday.

Bameyi stated that they hope to win and secure first position in the group.

“It is on to the next game. We hope to win and go top of our group on our way to qualifying for the World Cup and winning the tournament,”; the Bayelsa United centre-back told reporters.

Morocco defeated Kenya 3-2 in their opening fixture.
