The Commander of One Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Gusau, Brigadier General Mustapha Jimoh, has stated that incidents of terrorism and banditry in Zamfara State have significantly decreased.

Jimoh made this statement while addressing journalists during the 2025 West Africa Social Activities (WASA) organized by the One Brigade Command in Gusau.

He mentioned that ongoing military operations under Operation Fansan Yamma have resulted in enhanced security throughout the state, enabling residents and travelers to move with greater ease.

According to him, the routes connecting Zamfara to neighboring states, such as Funtua–Gusau and Gusau–Sokoto, have experienced a reduction in security threats.

The brigade commander emphasized that military operations will persist until criminal activities are eradicated in Zamfara and other regions of the North-West.

The Zamfara State Government, represented at the event by the Commissioner for Works, Lawal Barau, recognized the contributions of the Nigerian Army in tackling security challenges within the state.

Earlier, Jimoh noted that the WASA event was organized to strengthen the relationship between the military and the civilian population, highlighting that community cooperation has played a significant role in the recent security improvements.
