visitors were leading 2-0 with 25 minutes remaining before Toronto pulled one back.
At the time, both sides had been reduced to 10 men through red cards.
But there was more pain for ex- man Steffen in the 77th minute when he conceded a howler of an own-goal for 2-2.
One of Steffen’s teammates scooped the ball back to him with a wild high kick following an intense Toronto press.
Steffen, who also spent time at , looked to show his Pep Guardiola influence with a smooth touch to control the ball.
But the goalie misjudged its height.
And as the ball came down, it instead bounced off Steffen’s body before sailing into Colorado’s goal.
Things then got worse for the visitors, by now reduced to nine men, when Toronto completed the comeback with an 85th minute winner through ex-Norwich striker Josh Sargent.
Fans were quick to respond to Steffen’s horrendous error on social media.
One said: “That’s so bad from everyone.”
Another declared: “Standard MLS stuff.”
One noted: “Joke league with joke players.”
Another added: “Guardiola ruined him.”
