Yoo Hae Jin and Son Hyun Joo have shared their thoughts on working together for the first time in the upcoming film “Big Deal”;!
“Big Deal”; follows the story of Pyo Jong Rok (Yoo Hae Jin), a chief financial officer who treats his soju company like family, and Choi In Bum (Lee Je Hoon), a profit-driven employee at a global investment firm. Set during the 1997 IMF financial crisis, the two clash over the future of Korea’s beloved national liquor.
Although Yoo Hae Jin and Son Hyun Joo are known to be close friends, they’ve never worked on the same projectâuntil now. In “Big Deal,”; they star as a boss and his subordinate.Yoo Hae Jin plays Pyo Jong Rok, the CFO of Gukbo Group. When the company faces bankruptcy during the IMF crisis, he does everything he can to save itâmeeting with investors and law firms, and even promoting soju himself out in the field.
Son Hyun Joo plays Seok Jin Woo, the chairman of Gukbo Group, which owns Gukbo Soju. He’s a businessman who holds tightly to the belief that his company will never fail, unwilling to let go of what he sees as his, even during a crisis. The two characters wind up facing off in a high-stakes battle over the fate of Gukbo Soju.
At a recent press conference, Son Hyun Joo shared his thoughts on working with Yoo Hae Jin, saying, “We’ve always been close friends, but this was our first time acting together on screen, so I was very curious [what it would be like]. Yoo Hae Jin completely owned his role. As expected, he didn’t disappoint.”;
Yoo Hae Jin also commented, “Son Hyun Joo is one of the few people I truly admire. I had high expectations while acting with him, and I relied on him a lot.”;
“Big Deal”; is set to hit theaters on June 3.
