Keeping her situation private, she shared a photo of herself in a ward wearing red United pajamas.
She captioned it: “I apologize for not responding to everyone’s texts, calls, and messages.
“I’ve been transferred from Trafford to St Mary’s (who have been wonderful) this morning, so I hope to be home by tomorrow.”
Striking a pose in a hospital gown while in bed, wearing dark glasses and connected to a drip, the performer wrote: “Much love and thanks to St Mary’s for stepping in at the last minute.
“I came out of surgery smiling. What a fantastic team.
“I’m back on the ward now, heavily medicated for the pain, but – everything went well, I should be home tomorrow and ready to sing again next week.”
In 2023, the star concerned fans with images from her hospital bed before surgery, telling them 'see you on the other side.'
In 2004, she competed on the show and participated in the over 25s category, before being eliminated in the quarter-finals.
Rowetta’s performances on The X Factor received rave reviews, and she ultimately finished in fourth place, being the last woman in the competition.
On the program, Rowetta was described by her mentor as: “Amazing, but a bit eccentric.”
Last year, she parted ways with the Happy Mondays after an incident where she claimed frontman Shaun Ryder “punched her.”
The singer joined the Manchester group in 1990 and was featured on the single "Step On," which reached number five on the UK charts.
She toured with the Happy Mondays for three of their world tours and contributed to their third and fourth albums, Pills 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches and Yes Please!.
When the band reformed in 2012, Rowetta reunited with original members as they launched a reunion tour.
The statement on their social media read: “Happy Mondays and Rowetta announce that Rowetta will no longer be performing with the band.
“Happy Mondays thank Rowetta for her contributions and wish her all the best for the future.”
Rowetta was a notable figure in the Manchester music scene and featured as a backing singer on Simply Red’s 1991 album Stars.
