England forward, Raheem Sterling will only rejoin the squad at the 2022 World Cup when his family’s safety is guaranteed.
Sterling’s mansion in Surrey was targeted on Saturday night while he was preparing for the Three Lions’s last-16 clash against Senegal in Qatar.
The Chelsea star’s partner Paige and their kids were not home when the burglary happened.
The 27-year-old flew back to the UK on Sunday to be with his family after the distressing incident.
After England’s 3-0 win over Senegal, manager Gareth Southgate said Sterling will be given “as much time as he needs” before re-joining the squad.
Sterling will, however, prioritise his family’s safety before deciding whether to return to Qatar.
A source told The Sun: “Raheem has told everyone, ‘There is no way I’m going anywhere unless I’m 100 percent sure that my family can be kept safe’.”
England will take on France in the World Cup quarter-final on Saturday.
