The City of Angels has hosted both of the ‘ Group G games, which they’ve drawn.

And as the Persians left their SoFi Stadium locker, they decided to convey their thanks to LA for hosting them with a handwritten note.
It read: “From the ancient Persia of thousands of years ago to the civilised Iran of today.
“The spirit of Iran remains alive and steadfast.
“We came to Los Angeles awith pride, competed with honour and leave with dignity.
“Thank you, Los Angeles for your hospitality.
“And thank you to every Iranian who gave their heart, voice and soul for Iran throughout these 180 minutes.
“May peace, respect and friendship prevail among all nations.”
Head coach Amir Ghalenoei was over the moon at his troops’ display against perennial tournament dark horses Belgium.
He said: “We came into the World Cup under the worst possible conditions.
“And still we got a result against a great team and a great manager.
“We played a beautiful game.”
A proud as punch Ghalenoei added: “We had two great games without losing.
“Tonight, we celebrate. Tomorrow, we focus on Egypt, which is a very strong team.”
