World Bank delegation visits Kebbi for water, sanitation assessment

A team from the World Bank, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, has arrived Kebbi to assess the state’s water infrastructure as part of preparations for potential funding support.

The delegation, led by Alhaji Abdulhamid Adamu Gwaram, National Coordinator of the Sustainable Urban and Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project, will evaluate Kebbi State’s readiness to meet the conditions required to access World Bank assistance for water and sanitation development.

The team was received at the Ahmadu Bello International Airport by a delegation of Kebbi State Government officials, including the Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Bello Abubakar, and the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK.

Also present were the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources, Alhaji Atiku Garba; Director of Water Commercial Services, Alhaji Bashar Ibrahim; General Manager of the Kebbi State Water Board, Alhaji Zayyanu Shehu; and the General Manager of the Rural Water and Sanitation Agency, Alhaji Adamu Shehu.

During the visit, the team will inspect water supply infrastructure across both rural and urban areas to identify areas of need and assess the state’s capacity to implement and sustain interventions.

The assessment is expected to guide the disbursement of funds aimed at improving water access and sanitation services across Kebbi State.

The tour will be concluded on Thursday.
