Women, children of terrorists surrender to troops in Borno

Published on May 07, 2025 at 08:08 AM

Troops of the 25 Brigade under Operation Hadin Kai have received 10 family members of Boko Haram insurgents in Damboa town, Borno State.

The development was revealed in a post on Tuesday night by security analyst Zagazola Makama on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

According to the post, the surrendered individuals consists five women and five children.

Makama noted that this was facilitated by sustained ground and aerial offensives under Operation Desert Sanity, which have continued to weaken the capacity and morale of insurgents across the North-East theatre.

“The 10 individuals, believed to be family members of active insurgents, turned themselves in to troops in Damboa and are currently in military custody undergoing profiling and other administrative procedures,”; Makama wrote.

Military sources quoted by Makama said the increasing wave of surrenders highlights the effectiveness of ongoing operations and the pressure being mounted on terrorist strongholds.

In response to the development, security authorities are calling on the public to remain vigilant and support ongoing efforts by providing credible and timely information to the relevant agencies.
