Woman ‘sexually assaulted’ while walking on canal path by man riding bike

A WOMAN has been sexually assaulted on a canal path by a man riding a bike.

The victim was attacked while walking near Water Lane, in , on Friday at around 11.30pm.

A man wearing dark clothes and riding a push bike launched his assault while the woman headed towards Double Locks.

Cops launched an investigation and urged anyone who may have seen a man “acting suspiciously” at the time of the horror to come forward.

Devon and Cornwall are particularly interested in any unusual activity in Water Lane, the canal path and surrounding areas.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Investigating officers are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have relevant footage.

“Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw a male acting suspiciously in the area of Quay Haven Road, Water Lane, the canal path or Marsh Barton around the time of the incident.

“Anybody with information is asked to contact us on 101 or via our website quoting 50250244304.”
