COPS have launched an urgent investigation a woman was allegedly raped in a car park.

said a woman in her 20s was sexually assaulted in Worthing yesterday evening at 8pm, near the hospital.

Officers said it occurred at Lyndhurst Road Car Park.

The woman is being supported by specialist officers as the is carried out.

Detective Superintendent Jay Mendis-Gunasekera said: “We are at the early stages of this investigation and the victim will continue to receive our full support as this progresses.

“Detectives are exploring a number of lines of enquiry to identify and locate a suspect.

“There will be an increased police presence in the area overnight and into the morning, with a closure of the car park expected during the day as we gather and preserve any evidence.

“Anyone with information that could help the investigation is asked to contact police online or via 101, quoting Operation Blyth.”
