A WOMAN, 29, has sadly died in a horrific crash in a quiet British village.

The Fiat 500 driver died at the scene following the collision with a white Land Rover Defender.

It happened on the A534 Spark Lane, in Arclid, near Stoke, at 9am yesterday.

Emergency servicers scrambled to the scene.

However the woman could not be saved and she was pronounced dead.

Cops have confirmed that the 77-year-old driver of the Land Rover has been arrested on suspicion of causing a death by dangerous driving.

Detective Sergeant Iain Condliffe, of the Serious collision Investigation Unit, is calling for witnesses to come forward.

He said: β€œWe are currently conducting an investigation into the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident and as part of our enquiries, we would like to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.

β€œThe same goes for anyone with any relevant dashcam or CCTV footage of what happened.
