A 23-year-old woman, Abigail Victor, was on Wednesday arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court in Kaduna for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend during a heated domestic dispute.

Abigail, who resides in the Ungwan Sunday area of Kaduna, is facing two counts of conspiracy and causing grievous bodily harm, according to the charge filed by the Nigeria Police.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Chidi Leo, told the court that the incident occurred on May 17, 2025, in the Sabon Tasha area of the state. He explained that a misunderstanding had erupted between Abigail and her boyfriend, Dominic James, after she accused him of infidelity.

“In anger, she reportedly called two friends who joined her at the complainant’s residence, where they allegedly beat him and stabbed him in the shoulder with a knife,”;; Leo stated.

Section 58 prescribes up to one year imprisonment for conspiracy, while Section 284 stipulates a minimum of five years for causing bodily harm.

Abigail, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges when read to her in court.

Presiding Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum. The court directed that the surety must be a blood relative of the defendant and present proof of three years of tax clearance from the Kaduna State Government.

The case was adjourned to June 17, 2025, for the commencement of hearing.
