Credit: THE SUNLIVERPOOL travel to Molineux for Tuesday’s Premier League showdown with a resurgent Wolves as the Reds look to break into the top four.
Wolves vs Liverpool preview
Liverpool head to Molineux for an unexpectedly difficult encounter with Rob Edwards’ Wolves.
You wouldn’t normally consider a side rock-bottom of the division, destined for the Championship and simply relieved to have surpassed Derby County’s record-low points tally, as ‘difficult’.
But impending relegation appears to have brought the best out of this Wolves side, who have genuine momentum after beating rivals Aston Villa 2-0 last time out.
It was only their second Premier League win of the campaign, yet it leaves them with just one defeat in their last five in all competitions and offers belief for the final nine games of the season.
Another small boost for the hosts is their midweek record. Wolves have won seven of their last nine Premier League home games played on a Tuesday, giving them a 58% home win rate on that day in the competition.
That said, this is a contest Liverpool will feel they should win.
Arne Slot’s side have clicked of late, winning six of their last seven with four clean sheets in that run, and they could draw level on points with fourth-placed Aston Villa with maximum points here.
The Reds have won 83% of their Premier League games against Wolves – 19 of 23 – the best win ratio of any side to face another 20+ times in the competition’s history.
They’ve also won 17 of their last 18 meetings with Wolves, keeping 10 clean sheets, and arrive having won their last two away league games to nil.

Goalscorer
We’re all in on the division’s new set-piece kings, so we’re backing Virgil Van Dijk to get on the scoresheet again at 6/1 with Betfair.
Ok, they haven’t quite matched Arsenal’s numbers, but seven of Liverpool’s most recent nine Premier League goals have come from set-pieces. That’s no fluke. Since the turn of the year, Liverpool have scored more goals from set-pieces, excluding penalties, than any other side in the league.
The Dutchman, 34, has clearly profited from that, scoring three times in his last eight matches and registering a total of 16 headed attempts from set-pieces this season – more than double Ibrahima Konate and the rest of the Liverpool squad.

Involved
Keeping with the set-piece theme, we’re also backing Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai to score or assist at 11/10 with Betfair.
Liverpool are red-hot from set-pieces right now, and a lot of that is down to Szoboszlai. The Hungarian international, 25, has scored ten and provided eight assists this season, with eight goal involvements in his last ten matches (five goals, three assists).
He’s bagged three goals from set-pieces and created a whopping 52 chances for his teammates this season. With Liverpool in free-scoring form after their 5-2 demolition of West Ham, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Szoboszlai add to either his goals or assists tally at Molineux.
