Normally when someone is involved in the sporting moment of their careers they lock their phone away or let someone else look after it.

China’s Sheng Haipeng decided to bring his with him – and it slipped out of his pocket while he was flying through the air.

The 20-year-old had clearly not zipped up his pockets properly because it flew from his possession and on to the snowy ground.

This happened during his first jump of his second qualification run of the men’s freeski halfpipe at the Snow Park.

TV viewers were shown a replay of the Chinese star’s white phone flying up in the air as he raced down the slope.

While he waited for the scores off the judges for his run, Sheng had to wait as a marshal went and collected it from the floor.

TNT Sports commentator James Webb said: “Another athlete losing their phone in midair.

“We’ve seen that a few times in the Olympics.

“Someone needs to be the official ‘zip checker’ up at the top.”

Webb added: “We can see a shot of the phone coming out of the pocket.

“Oh dear, hope it’s okay.

“It’s a white phone, it’s just going to disappear into the snow.

“Fingers crossed the slippers will be able to fish that one up.”

When Sheng got the snow-covered prized object back from stewards, he said “Thank you very much” and did a quick check to see if it was broken.

Sheng finished 20th and did not progress to the final on Friday night but he will have the weekend to make any repairs to his phone.
