The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council (JCC) Kano Axis, has declared its intention to oppose policies that it believes are exacerbating the economic difficulties faced by Nigerian students and their families.
The association has voiced its full support for the nationwide protest initiated by the national leadership of NANS against the recently implemented tax policy.
Discussing this decision, the Public Relations Officer of NANS, Kano Axis, Comrade Muddassir Hamza Dankaka, stated that students can no longer remain silent while policies that increase suffering are enforced on the populace.
He characterized the new tax policy as unfair, anti-student, and economically burdensome.
“The tax policy is unfair, anti-student, and economically burdensome, especially at a time when students and their families are already struggling with rising living costs, tuition fees, and insufficient government support.
“The Kano Axis, led by Comrade Yunus Sulaiman Halliru, stands in solidarity with the national body in demanding the immediate repeal of the policy for the sake of fairness, equity, and national progress,” he added.
Dankaka emphasized that the planned protest would be conducted peacefully, urging students nationwide to remain calm, disciplined, and law-abiding throughout the event.
The association reaffirms its commitment to advocating for the rights, interests, and welfare of Nigerian students.
The protest is scheduled to take place on January 14, 2026, in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
