Prince Kanu, the younger brother of Nnamdi Kanu, hasI explained why the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, leader is in detention.

In a post on his Facebook page on Tuesday, Prince Kanu disclosed that the Biafra agitator is in detention because he is a fearless seeker of truth.

“The only reason he is in detention is that he is a fearless seeker of truth who challenges authority and questions lies,” the younger Kanu said.

Prince Kanu’s comments is coming amid ongoing plans for a protest march to demand the IPOB leader’s release. The #FreeMaziNnamdiKanuNow protest march which is being organized by activist, Omoyele Sowore, has received the support of several Nigerians, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

In an earlier Facebook post on October 9, 2025, Prince Kanu had cried out over the health condition of the agitator, who is detained in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS.

Prince Kanu, who condemned those he accused of playing politics with Nnamdi Kanu’s ailment, disclosed that the Biafra agitator’s health is getting worse.

He wrote, “I spend each day with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, making sure he gets all the help he needs. I witness pain every day, and I, along with many others, share his suffering.

“I’ll say it again: those of you who are using Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s health problems for political purposes, particularly those who are against his release for proper medical treatment , will have nowhere to hide. The pain is getting worse and worse. If you paid close attention yesterday, you would have seen that he was entering the court slowly in order to prevent falling.

“Each day he wakes up is a miracle. Pray for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu ((IPOB Leader).”

DAILY POST reports that Kanu has asked Justice James Omotosho of the Abuja Federal High Court to transfer his treatment to the National Hospital, Abuja, alleging that the clinic at the DSS headquarters, where he is being treated, is not giving adequate attention to his ailments.

Kanu’s lawyers have also alleged that the DSS falsified his medical records.

Following the request, Justice Omotosho had asked the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, to conduct tests on Kanu to determine his health condition before determining whether his treatment should be moved to the National Hospital.

The non-availability of the NMA medical report stalled the trial on October 8, 2025, forcing the court to adjourn to October 16, 2025.
