Why Nigeria no longer produce enough breakout artists – Magixx

Singer Magixx has claimed that streaming farms are responsible for the decline in the number of breakout artists in the Nigerian music industry in recent years.

He alleged that most of the spots on music charts and streaming platforms have been “bought”, making it difficult for upcoming artists to gain attention on charts.

On his X handle, he wrote, “Just so y’all know, the reason why we don’t have enough breakout artists these days is because almost every spot on Apple Music is bought!”

DAILY POST reports that allegations of some artists inflating the number of plays their songs or albums receive on streaming platforms using bots or automated systems have continued to dominate discourse in the music industry, despite some prominent industry figures denying the existence of streaming farms.

Last year, Magixx’s boss and CEO of Mavin Records, Don Jazzy, shut down the allegations that he uses streaming farms to manipulate the streams of his artists.

He also claimed that streaming farms don’t exist, stressing that even if they do, he doesn’t use them.
