Financial educator, Kalu Aja, has argued that Lagos State deserves special infrastructure support from the Federal Government.

Aja, in a post on his X handle on Tuesday, said Lagos holds more federal assets than any other state, including the Federal Capital Territory.

DAILY POST reports that President Bola Tinubu’s administration had on Monday released an infographic of the amount of projects spent per zone.

The administration claimed that no Nigerian is second class and that no region is left behind.

However, the government didn’t disclose the amount it spent on projects in Lagos, which is part of the southwest region, in its released infographics on project executed across regions.

Reacting in a post on X, Aja wrote: “I personally believe that Lagos State should receive exceptional infrastructure support from the Federal purse.

“Lagos State holds more federal assets than any other state, including the Federal Capital. If Lagos’ economy stalls, Nigeria’s GDP will also stall.

“I wouldn’t mind if 1% of the CAPEX is set aside to maintain these Legacy assets; it’s a rational argument that really is hard to counter. What is unacceptable is to seek to gaslight, confuse, and be downright childish.

“How can a president from Lagos State tell his citizens to ‘ignore Lagos’?

“I know the President didn’t say so, I know it’s his media aides again seeking to overdo.”
