Ben O’Keeffe is a rugby union referee from New Zealand.

He currently officiates international test matches and Super Rugby matches, and holds the record for most first-class games, Super Rugby and test matches officiated by a Kiwi.

O’Keeffe, unlike other officials, went straight to professional refereeing, rather than exploring a playing career.

In 2013, he became a professional referee for the New Zealand Rugby Union, having started officiating in 2008 at the age of 19.

He took charge of his first Super Rugby match in 2015, and first test match in 2016.

He officiated the 2019 and 2023 Rugby World Cup’s and officiated on the 2021 British & Irish Lions tour.
