RUNNING from 2005 to 2009, My Name Is Earl was a smash hit when it first burst on to our TV screens nearly two decades ago.

The beloved sitcom, which won five Primetime Emmy Awards, saw small-time thief Earl Hickey – played by Jason Lee – make a list of all the bad things he had ever done in an attempt to right the wrongs and earn some good karma points.

It was an instant hit, becoming the highest-rated new sitcom of the season when it premiered in the early 2000s, and over four seasons the series made a star out of Jason.

The show was ultimately cancelled in 2009. But now, 17 years later, . A TV insider said: “It’s not clear if this would be a continuation of the original story or a total reboot, but essentially they will be tapping into the spirit of the show’s first outing for this comeback.

“The move comes after the revival of Malcolm In The Middle, another classic from the Noughties, which returned earlier this year on with the spin-off Life’s Still Unfair.

“That saw the show’s leading man, Frankie Munz, reprise his central role, much to the delight of fans. Now execs are assessing just how successful that show has been before going ahead with any similar projects.”

It’s been more than a decade since we last followed the characters on the screen – but where are they now? From a jaw-dropping 21st body glow-up and legal woes to a marriage that lasted a matter of months, here’s what the cast of My Name is Earl have been up to.

Ethan Supply – Randy

By Jason’s side was who played Randy, Earl’s dim-witted brother who lazed his way through life in the fictional town of Camden.

Shortly before being cast in the sitcom, the actor, now 50, had got sober after using alcohol and drugs to numb the pain of being put on diets to try to control his weight.

Now Ethan, who shares four kids with wife Brandy Lewis, is worlds away from his character, having and dropping to nine per cent body fat along the way.

“I cannot say that actually losing weight has made me happier. I don’t think that’s true,” he told PEOPLE last year. “I just think that achieving something I set out to achieve has given me this volume of happiness that is pretty great.”

Reflecting on his recovery journey with Fox News Digital , Ethan said repeated attempts to get sober failed because he believed he could simply complete rehab and move on. He believed taking 30 days away from drugs and alcohol meant the problem had gone away.

“I haven’t had drugs or alcohol in 30 days,” he recalled. “That means I’m cured.”

It wasn’t until he embraced ongoing accountability and open communication that he found lasting success, a lesson he later realized applied just as much to maintaining his weight loss.

“My condition isn’t a condition with a cure,” he explained. “It’s a condition that I can learn to manage.

“I did not apply that to weight loss for many, many years. I kind of was doing everything in my head, and the big boon to actually being able to maintain it was finding a group of people to be accountable to.”

Since the series ended after just four seasons, he has continued to pick up work in Hollywood, appearing in blockbusters including The Wolf of Wall Street and Babylon.

Jason Lee – Earl Hickey

Comedian Jason, 56, portrayed petty criminal Earl, who dedicates his life to righting all his wrongs in the past. Prior to landing the big role, Jason had broken through as an actor in Kevin Smith’s 1995 cult indie hit Mallrats, after switching from an early career as a professional skateboarder.

Following the hit series, the dad-of-four – now married to Ceren Alkaç
– found further fame by playing Dave in all three live-action versions of . He also appeared in American Dad!, Raising Hope and We Bare Bears.

In recent years, the actor’s has moved back to after living in a small town in Texas with his wife, their three children, and a son from a previous relationship.

Although Jason now focuses on photography, he still acts, though he takes fewer roles. He returned to the screen playing Tripp Morgan in the Netflix murder-mystery series The Residence, which premiered in March last year.

Jason also revealed he had in 2016 after being a member since the 1990s.

Jason told The Guardian : “Everybody wants answers, everybody wants to feel less depressed or less anxious, or they want to try to understand some issue that they might have with themselves.”

His first wife, photographer Carmen Llywelyn, blamed the church for their split in 2001 and claimed Jason divorced her because she read a book that criticised Scientology.

Carmen claimed she told her talent manger and fellow members of the church that she had read A Piece of Blue Sky, and that shortly after that she received a “disconnection letter” from Jason.

A spokesperson for the Church of Scientology told The Independent : “This is yet another in a long series of shameless and transparent attempts by Ms Llywelyn to get attention by exploiting her former Church.

“The Church of Scientology has had nothing to do with her for years, and had no involvement in her relationship with her former husband.”

Eddie Steeples – Darnell Turner

Eddie, now 52, appeared as Darnell, aka. Crab Man, a mutual friend of Earl and Joy, who he marries in the first series.

After the series got cancelled in 2009, Eddie joined former co-star Jason in the fourth instalment of Alvin and the Chipmunks and in 2020 worked with Nicolas Cage on martial arts film Jiu Jitsu .

In 2004, Eddie was on holiday in Thailand when the struck on Boxing Day, and it was initially feared he had been killed.

His family confirmed he was alive on New Year’s Day 2005, explaining that he had been in a remote mountain area. Eddie has not publicly spoken about it.

Jaime Pressly – Joy Turner

, 49, appeared on our TV screens as Earl’s scheming ex-wife Joy, who did her best to sabotage his attempts to do good deeds and make amends. Her incredible performance earned her an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

But while her acting career was flying and Jamie landed a host of other acting gigs, including a long-running role as Jill Kendall in the CBS sitcom Mom, her personal life looked a lot different.

She married lawyer Simran Singh the same year as My Name Is Earl ended, but just sixteen months later, the couple had split and Jaime had filed for divorce.

A friend told Us magazine: “I think it comes down to she married this guy too fast.”

Two weeks before filing for divorce, the actress was arrested in Santa Monica, California, under suspicion of driving under the influence. She pleaded no contest and received three years of informal probation.

At the time, she was also facing a hefty $637,000 (£471,000) bill for unpaid taxes as both the IRS and the state of filed against her.

Jamie has three children: her eldest son from a relationship with DJ Eric Calvo, and her twins with long-term partner Hamzi Hijazi.

She has opened up about having to have part of her breasts removed, having found lumps four years after struggling with following the birth of her first child.

The actress said: “From just the scar tissue – the mastitis because it mutated into something else, because it sat dormant for a while. It was the craziest thing. Thank God it wasn’t [cancer].”

Earlier this year, the mum-of-three joined the subscription site to “create what I want, how I want”, People reported at the time.

When she announced the news, the actress said she “always believed in evolving with the times.”

Billy Gardell – Jeff/Billy Hoyne

Billy, 56, appeared in the show as law enforcement officer Jeff and his identical twin brother Billy, who works in an appliance store with Earl.

After the sitcom ended, he landed his biggest role to date as Mike in Mike & Molly opposite Melissa McCarthy . The series ran until 2016. He also starred in CBS sitcom, Bob Hearts Abishola.

In 2022, he revealed that he had shed over 10 stone, which meant that he was no longer diabetic. Billy, who found comfort in food as a way to cope with his challenging childhood, underwent bariatric surgery in 2021. It was his third attempt after he backed out of the previous two due to fear.

“I tried everything, low-carb, keto, intermittent fasting — and by the way, all those things work — but I just couldn’t stay consistent with any of them. I was on a yo-yo thing,” he told People .

After transforming his body with surgery and weight loss drug , the dad-of-one said: “No diabetes, resting heartbeat went from 113 to 68. Walking around pretty healthy these days.”

Nadine Velazquez – Catalina

Nadine, 47, appeared in the show as hotel worker Catalina, who eventually marries Randy for a green card.

While it remains her biggest role to date, she has kept acting and appeared in TV shows including , Hart of Dixie and most recently ABC’s musical drama Queens.

In 2005, she tied the knot with talent producer Marc Provissier. But unfortunately, it wasn’t a fairytale ending and the couple went their separate ways six years later in 2011.

Nadine was previously ranked number 39 on Maxim’s annual Hot 100 list. In 2008, she was a judge for Miss USA and a year later hosted the 2009 pageant.

She has also briefly addressed the , telling the Chicago Tribune: “I don’t have an entertainment industry story that is as severe as some … but I’ve had my share of run-ins or potential situations that would make me incredibly uncomfortable.”

Dale Dickey – Patty

Dale, 64, portrayed the daytime prostitute Patty, who was frequently arrested across the sitcom’s four series. Prior to appearing on My Name is Earl, the actress was already established in the industry and has continued to regularly work in film and TV since.

She’s appeared in alongside , filmed two episodes of , and is set to appear in Western Film Horizon.

Dale also worked with a young on 2010’s Winter’s Bone, winning an Indie Spirit award for Best Supporting Female.

She told Vanity Fair: “I learned a lot from that young lady. She’s raw talent at its best and a good human being.”

Noah Crawford – Young Earl

Noah had his first big acting job in My Name is Earl, playing the young version of the sitcom’s main character.

The actor, now 31, was just 11 years old when he appeared in the pilot back in 2005.

Since the show ended, he appeared in a number of other TV shows including How To Rock, Criminal Minds and Swindle. However, he hasn’t appeared in any film or TV roles since 2019.

In 2025, he tied the knot with his girlfriend Hayley Ogas, 33, who also acted in How To Rock.
