Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the 2023 general election, has revealed what late former President Muhammadu Buhari told him during his campaign.

Obi, who paid a condolence visit to Buhari’s family in Daura on Wednesday, came third in the 2023 presidential election.

The former Anambra governor consulted Buhari, who was the then President of Nigeria, to inform him of his desire to succeed him.

Speaking to the press after the condolence visit in Daura, Katsina State, Obi recalled his conversation with the former President.

“I had the opportunity of meeting him while I was campaigning. And I remember his words, ‘Please care for the poor Nigerians’. That I can still remember. And I believe he did his best within his capacity,”; Obi said.

The former President was buried in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State on Tuesday.

DAILY POST reported on Sunday that Buhari passed on in London, the United Kingdom, at 82 years.

The Katsina born politician served as a military Head of State and democratically elected President of Nigeria.
