We’ll pay compensation, give lands for farming – Wike to FCT indigenes

Published on June 23, 2025 at 04:19 PM

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has informed Abuja communities of his administration’s readiness to pay compensation and give them farmlands.

Wike said the effort is part of plans to ensure out food security in Nigeria.

He disclosed this during the inauguration of the newly constructed A2 to Pai Road in Abuja to mark President Bola Tinubu’s second year in office.

The minister warned that the lands must not be given to political farmers.

He equally stressed that such lands must not be given to speculators who will sell them for profit later.

Wike said, “We are willing to pay compensation to communities and give you farmlands to sort out food security issues to real farmers and not political farmers who will keep the land as speculators and sell when much development has come.”;

Wike also disclosed that his administration has done a total of 150km of roads across the FCT.

“So far, we have done not less than 150 km of road (ongoing and completed) within the satellite towns,”; he added.
