WEDDING season is just around the corner, but guests will want to follow a few key pieces of advice to avoid stealing the spotlight.

Derek Warburton has exclusively revealed to The U.S. Sun what the most essential guidelines to wedding fashion etiquette to follow this season are.

Warburton, a celebrity stylist, wedding expert, and founder of Gurus Media , told The U.S. Sun that the best thing guests can do is “understand the assignment.”

“You must always respect the dress code and the environment that the couple have prepared for their special day,” said Warburton.

His first piece of advice to was to make sure their outfit can’t be mistaken for something anyone central to the big day might wear.

“My biggest no-no has to be a guest wearing what could be mistaken for bridal attire or the wedding entourage’s fit.”

But guests can still and show their style, as long as they “keep it subdued” and “never introduce elements that take too much attention from others.”

“One recommendation I can offer is to wear natural diamond jewelry; they can come in smaller pieces like studs or rings so they don’t take too much attention, while still improving the quality of the whole fit,” added Warburton.

Warburton also advised the happy couple to create “properly and clearly communicated dress codes,” as these “would solve a lot of problems on their special day.”

“I would also suggest keeping colors in a palette or spectrum, and as much as possible, choose complementary colors with a mix of neutrals.

“This gives a lot more leeway for most of the guests to style themselves, while still strictly sticking to the couple’s assigned theme,” he added.

Warburton also exclusively revealed to The U.S. Sun exactly what a “black tie optional” dress code is, and .

“I believe if a couple mentioned this request they simply meant to wear a formal outfit that fits the dress code without having to be an expensive tuxedo,” he explained.

“For men, a tailored dark suit and dress shirt with tie should be enough, complemented with polished, leather dress shoes.

“For women, a floor length gown can be a traditional choice, but a midi/cocktail styled dress can fit as long as it looks formal,” added the pro.
