A FASHION expert has cracked the code of the ambiguous black tie optional wedding dress code confusing nuptials guests this season.

Derek Warburton lifted the lid on what betrothed couples likely mean with the request and show up in style.

Warburton, a celebrity stylist, wedding expert, and founder of Gurus Media , said guests shouldn’t overthink black tie optional.

“I believe if a couple mentioned this request they simply meant to wear a formal outfit that fits the dress code without having to be an expensive tuxedo,” he exclusively told The U.S. Sun.

Warburton said couples are often considering how expensive tuxedos and evening gowns can be and want to relieve some financial pressure for their guests.

Instead of donning the penguin suit or a floor-length dress, guests should feel empowered to wear the best eveningwear they have on hand, he said.

“For men, a tailored dark suit and dress shirt with tie should be enough, complemented with polished, leather dress shoes,” said the pro.

“For women, a floor length gown can be a traditional choice, but a midi/cocktail styled dress can fit as long as it looks formal.”

Instead of focusing on dress code details, guests should ensure their outfits are “impeccably tailored, and made with high-quality materials” so it will “look right for any wedding.”

Warburton also emphasized paying close attention to “the color palette in the invitation when choosing an outfit” to ensure you don’t clash with the reception and ceremony’s general aesthetic.

Wedding outfits are more than just clothes, the expert explained, as accessories can make or break a nuptial look.

He recommended choices that “can help elevate eveningwear quite well without being too flashy or attention-provoking for the wedding.”

Warburton specifically singles out “a pair of natural diamond studs, or a natural diamond tennis bracelet” as pairings for a black tie optional outfit.

“Plus, they can come in different colors as well, making to possible to fit the dress code even more,” he said.
