MURAT GASSIEV has been left in limbo ahead of the Battle of Britain between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

WBA heavyweight champion Gassiev was upgraded to the ‘super’ title after in 2025.
But Gassiev has been left in an awkward position as he believes that , 38, and , 36, may only be .
Gassiev said to ESPN : “[The] WBA give me big surprise about my belt. But in press conference when AJ and Fury have face off, I see only Ring Magazine belt, no WBA belt.
“And to be honest right now, I don’t have clear information about this situation. I don’t know. Fight for ‘super’ belt, another belt, I don’t know.”
The decision will have major consequences, as the WBA recognises the ‘super’ title as their true champion, with the ‘regular’ belt being primarily held by the number one contender.
This is regarded as one of the four major world titles, alongside the IBF, WBC, and WBO belts.
Gassiev continues to be listed on the WBA website as the official champion.
Fury is listed second in the world behind the USA‘s , 38, while Joshua sits third in the WBA’s ranking.

But Gassiev has explained that he will remain focused on his boxing as an ultimate choice is out of his control.
He continued: “I check my email. I don’t have any messages, any papers, but I’m not manager, promoter [or] lawyer. I’m fighter. I do my job, that’s it.”
