KBS2’s upcoming drama “The First Night With the Duke”; has shared a peek inside its first script reading!
“The First Night With the Duke”; is a romance fantasy that tells the story of an ordinary college student whose soul becomes transferred into a minor character of a romance novel and spends the night with the obsessive male lead.
The script reading session brought together directors Lee Woong Hee and Kang Soo Yeon, writer Jeon Seon Young, and the cast, including Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun, 2PM’s Taecyeon, Kwon Han Sol, Seo Bum June, Ji Hye Won, and more. As excitement filled the room, the actors quickly immersed themselves in their roles, bringing energy and passion to the reading.
Seohyun brought her character Cha Sun Chaek to life with a witty and lighthearted tone. As a modern-day college girl whose soul is transported into a secondary character in a romance novel set in the Joseon Dynasty, Seohyun added simple hand gestures and lively movements to showcase her character’s cheerful and energetic personality, making the Gen Z college girl’s journey through an unfamiliar era feel vibrant and fun.
Taecyeon, portraying Yi Beon—a character with perfect credentials and an aloof charm, captured attention with his composed demeanor and piercing gaze. In scenes opposite Seohyun, he revealed a softer side of his character, his warm glances contrasting with an otherwise indifferent tone. This highlighted Yi Beon’s unexpected depth and complexity.
Kwon Han Sol brought the character of Jo Eun Ae, the novel’s heroine, to life with a calm and gentle tone, capturing her quiet, thoughtful nature. Seo Bum June, playing the second male lead Jung Soo Kyum, added a relaxed yet warm presence to his role in the love triangle. Ji Hye Won, as the villainous Do Hwa Sun, delivered sharp, unpredictable lines, injecting a new level of tension into the reading session.
After the script reading, Seohyun shared her excitement, saying, “It’s just really fun,”; and added, “Every moment is filled with incredibly enjoyable scenes.”;
Taecyeon also expressed his thoughts, saying, “The unfolding story and the relationships are very interesting,”; highlighting the drama’s key point.
