The blades were found concealed in bakery items at a Walmart Supercenter in Biloxi, Mississippi, located on the Gulf Coast east of New Orleans.
A customer initially discovered a razor blade inside a muffin several weeks ago, according to Lt. Candace Young, a spokesperson for the Biloxi Police Department, who spoke to the Sun Herald.
On Sunday, another customer reported finding a razor blade embedded in a loaf of bread.
Walmart initiated an inspection of its products this week and uncovered additional razor blades inserted into loaves of bread, as reported by the police.
According to authorities, the blades had been inserted through the plastic packaging.
No injuries have been reported as a result of these incidents.
Police are currently reviewing security footage from the past few weeks but have not identified any suspicious activity near the bakery sections.
“The issue is that we don’t know when this occurred,” Young stated.
It remains unclear how many blades Walmart employees have discovered.
No blades were found inside products in the warehouse, Young indicated, suggesting that someone within the store tampered with the items.
Police also announced on Monday that they currently have no suspects in this puzzling case.
