Vehicle conveying defecting Kwankwasiyya members crashes in Kaduna

Published on May 19, 2025 at 02:22 PM

A commercial vehicle transporting Kwankwasiyya supporters from Kano North was involved in a road accident in Jaji, Kaduna State, while en route to Abuja to formally defect to the camp of Senator Barau Jibrin of the APC.

The incident which happened Monday morning, was confirmed by SLA Bala DPO Kabo, a close associate of Senator Barau Jibrin, who was leading the delegation.

“We were traveling in three vehicles from Kabo with Kwankwasiyya members heading to meet the Senator for defection. As we got to Jaji, a reckless driver suddenly crossed one of our vehicles, causing it to somersault,”;; Bala explained.

He added: “The vehicle was carrying 20 passengers. They were all rushed to the hospital, but thankfully, no one sustained serious injuries. They’ve now switched vehicles and are continuing their journey to Abuja.”;;

Arewa updates reports that this development comes amid escalating internal crises within the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), both in Kano State and at the national level.

The internal rift has led to increasing defections, with many loyalists of the Kwankwasiyya movement now aligning themselves with opposition parties, particularly the All Progressives Congress (APC).
