‘Unjust and criminal act’ – Sowore reacts as Kenyan court declares Kanu’s rendition to Nigeria illegal

Published on June 27, 2025 at 11:26 AM

Popular activist, Omoyele Sowore, has knocked the Nigerian government over the transfer of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, from Kenya to Nigeria in 2021.

Sowore, who was reacting to a decision of the High Court of Kenya, which declared Kanu’s rendition as illegal, said the transfer was an “unjust and criminal act of brigandage”; by the past and present administration.

DAILY POST reports that the Kenyan court had declared the rendition unlawful and illegal.

The court also awarded compensatory damages of 10 million Kenyan shillings (₦119.6 million) against the Kenyan government for gross violations of Mazi Kanu’s fundamental human rights.

Reacting, Sowore blamed the alleged infractions on the former President, Muhammadu Buhari, and his successor, President Bola Tinubu.

In a post on his official Facebook page, the activist wrote, “An unjust and criminal act of brigandage by the Muhammadu Buhari regime but continued by the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu regime.”;
