Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has harped on unity in diversity as the bedrock of progress in society.

In a post via his official X handle to celebrate ‘Hausa Day’ on Tuesday, Atiku said the Hausa people, through their language, traditions, and enterprise, have left an indelible mark on West Africa and beyond.

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said the celebration is more than a cultural festival.

He said it is a call to safeguard their linguistic treasures, honour the resilience of their forebears, and inspire future generations to embrace unity in diversity as the bedrock of progress.

“Today, as we mark Hausa Day at the historic Emir of Daura’s Palace, we pay tribute to one of Africa’s most influential cultures.

“From commerce to scholarships, governance to the arts, Hausa-speaking communities across 25 countries continue to drive economic growth, foster cultural diplomacy, and preserve a heritage that has stood the test of centuries.

“May this Hausa Day renew our collective commitment to building a Nigeria, and indeed an Africa, where heritage and modernity thrive side by side,” he prayed.
