Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes has hit out at Ruben Amorim’s side following their UEFA Europa League semi-final first leg 3-0 win against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday.
The former England midfielder said the Red Devils players were ‘sloppy’ during the encounter against Athletic Bilbao.
According to him, Man United could have scored five goals against the Spanish LaLiga club, but didn’t take full advantage of the red card the hosts received.
A brace from captain Bruno Fernandes and a goal from Casemiro gave Man United the victory over Athletic Bilbao.
“I still think the second half they were a little bit sloppy at times,”; Scholes told TNT Sports.
“I think they could have managed the game a little bit better, possibly gone for the fourth and fifth goals.
“But when you are playing against 10 men you don’t give the other team a sniff of the ball.
“I think if they’d kept the ball better another goal would have come.
“The one thing they didn’t want was to concede a goal and that never looked like it was going to happen,”; he stated.
