UEL: Lyon gave them problems – Williams speaks on Athletic Bilbao comeback against Man Utd

Published on May 02, 2025 at 09:08 AM

Athletic Bilbao attacker, Inaki Williams has warned Manchester United that his team are more than capable of a comeback in the second leg of both sides’ Europa League semi-final tie.

According to Williams, Lyon went to Old Trafford and gave Man United problems in the Europa League quarter-final second leg encounter.

The 30-year-old was not able to help his team avoid defeat as Man United won 3-0 in Spain on Thursday night.

A goal from Casemiro and a brace from Bruno Fernandes gave Ruben Amorim’s side a first leg advantage ahead of the return leg next week in England.

“We were not very sharp, there is no need to make excuses,”; Williams said at his post-match interview.

“We are 3-0 down, but we are capable of overcoming that. We have already seen that Lyon gave them problems at home and we are going to try and do the same.

“The work of the entire season speaks for itself. We are in the final stretch of our dream. Our fans have always supported us and we are going to give it our all,”; he said.
